The book is designed to give photographers directions to, and information about areas and sites which the authors feel are worthy of a trip to photograph. There is a commentary by both authors, in each section and in our "notes" sections. For those who want to get straight to the dance, however, there are directions and GPS coordinates given for each site, and they can be accessed without reading all the extras. For those interested in some insight about the areas, we hope the commentary is both interesting and informative.
There are a great many wonderful shooting locations in this vast, mostly uninhabited, tract of nature dotted with many forest lakes and bordered by parts of three of the Great Lakes. One of the most appealing elements of photographing in the Upper Peninsula is the absence of crowds, a product of the region's remoteness.
