How do you punish an immortal?
By making him human.
After angering his father Zeus, the god Apollo is cast down from Olympus. Weak and disoriented, he lands in New York City as a regular teenage boy. Now, without his godly powers, the four-thousand-year-old deity must learn to survive in the modern world until he can somehow find a way to regain Zeus's favor.
But Apollo has many enemies-gods, monsters, and mortals who would love to see the former Olympian permanently destroyed. Apollo needs help, and he can think of only one place to go . . . an enclave of modern demigods known as Camp Half-Blood.

Robbie Daymond is completely charming as the god Apollo, who has been transformed into a mortal teenaged boy as a punishment from Zeus. Apollo is conceited and self-important, but Riordan's funny writing and Daymond's narration make sure the listener is always on his side as he learns how to manage without his godly gifts. Apollo makes his way to Camp Half-Blood, the home away from home for young demigods, and soon learns that his punishment isn't the only thing amiss. The story fits into the larger Percy Jackson universe (and Percy even makes an appearance), but even listeners who aren't caught up with all of those adventures will be able to enjoy this first installment in a new series.
